We hope you are all well and are looking forward to a fun-filled 2011 after the miserable winter we had here. Whilst things may have been running at a slower pace for most of us in the cold, it is full steam ahead in Kpandai with our building projects and educational development. Our fundraising initiatives in 2011 are all focusing on a sustainable development. We aim to expand our farming programmes to help tackle our ever growing food bill, and this was started with the purchase of a Cassava and Maize Grinding Mill in Kpandai, funded from part of Sarah and Alban Higgins marathon funds. We previously paid to mill our crops, and will not only save this cost but opening our own mill as a small business enterprise will generate some school funds from other local farmers needing to mill. Let Us Shine is committed to sustainable projects and we are currently fundraising for a tractor in an attempt to fivefold increase our farming yield by 2012.
